East Wind Crafts

East Wind Crafts was created in 1974, soon after the incorporation of East Wind Community- one of the oldest intentional communities in America.

It served as a sales outlet for consumer products created and sold by the members of our community. Included in this merchandise were East Wind Hammocks and Utopian Rope Sandals (both still made onsite), belt looms, wooden plant holders, cutting boards, handmade drums and various arts and crafts.

Since 1980 East Wind Nut Butters has been owned and operated by members of East Wind Community. As equal owners of East Wind Nut Butters, we participate in all aspects of our business. From roasting raw nuts, milling butter, packaging finished product, and servicing equipment, to shipping, business management accounting and taking care of customer relationships.

After the East Wind Nut Butters manufacturing facility began producing nut butters in 1981, East Wind Crafts transitioned into the role of our Retail Sales Division offering nut butters directly to the public and small businesses purchasing below wholesale’s minimums.

Today, the East Wind Crafts’ team handles customer purchases at our physical location in Missouri, shipping online orders via this website, facilitating local small business' orders and deliveries, while also participating in various craft shows, festivals and community sponsored events in the surrounding area.

Every nut butter we make has two ingredients or less. Most nut butters rely on added sugars, and stabilizers. Ours don’t need them-- if it doesn’t belong there, we don’t add it.

We package in durable glass jars — plastic is convenient — and disposable. We chose glass because it’s reusable, and better for the food inside. Our jars are made to be kept, reused, and loved long after the nut butter is gone.
